Senior Chef de Partie
Working as a chef in the House of Commons has given me a huge range of kitchens to work in with varying styles of food and services. I like being able to implement my own ideas when writing menus, and feel a real sense of satisfaction seeing my dishes come to life. It's lovely being based in the Palace and being able to walk through the gates every morning!
Amy's Profile
I currently run the Churchill Kitchen, supervising a team of 4 chefs. I have had the opportunity to work in every kitchen across the Parliamentary Estate over the years and have worked with great people and talented chefs and learnt a lot from them. I create the menus for my kitchen keeping in mind the traditional style needed to suit the dining room and customers but also using the influence of current catering trends.
The House has supported my development and always encouraged my professional training and varied my experience helping me to progress. I am particularly proud of my personal achievements in my progression through the organisation and am currently the most senior female kitchen chef at the House.
Compared to some of my other jobs, it's a pleasure to work in such clean, well equipped kitchens with modern appliances.
Being able to maintain a good work-life balance is a huge benefit, which in my experience can be hard to come by in catering.
